What does everyone think of AOL adding two new bots to your buddy list without you asking or giving permission? I, myself, love AIM bots but I don't think I'll be getting much use out of either of these. Thoughts?

I totally dig the MovieFhone one. While I have plenty of complaints with its name, the bot seems to be very useful. It even remembers your area code. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but I can definately see it saving me time while the yahoo movie page loads. So anyhow, that's my take on their usefulness. As for them loading them into my profile, I could go either way really. It is kindda fun, but I think in the end I would have rather had them not load it for me. I realize they are really easy to get rid of, but it is more the fact that they are messing with my account that bothers me. Free accounts, what can you say? As for the shopping buddy thing, I would suggest that everyone delete it. You can get much better prices on items by going through Froogle, or doing a Google search.

So, that's my take on them; nothing more, nothing less. I do not expect to change any opinions by stating this.

I take it as a gross misappropriation of my personal rights. I shall never again trust Google...er, I mean AOL. I'm joining the legions of Steve Ballmer. My boycott will be the least of their worries.

When I saw it, I did what any self-respecting computer novice would have: I deleted their asses on sight! I don't need some crazy AOL thing looking at me all the time. Besides, what do I want with buying stuff from them? There's EBay for that. And MovieFone? That one should have been deleted just for its attrocious spelling. Anyway, I'm not too concerned with their functions. Had they wanted me to actually use them, they should have asked me if I wanted to add them, or even let me know they were going to add them before they did.
